This class unites drawing and painting together into a singular process, where we will make a drawing and then paint directly over that drawing using an ebauche technique popular in the 19th century. Each day we will focus on a new topic relevant to creating a successful portrait in this technique. This technique attempts to unite the best of both mediums into a dynamic and solid painting process. Highlights of this process include: Sketch and Ghost to fix mistakes, Classical Flesh Model with Diversity, Brushstroke Variety Soup.
Weekly classes will consist of a 30 min discussion of the week's topic, 1 ½ hr demonstration and paint-along, and 30 min critiques in which Steve will digitally draw on an image of your painting. Each week will focus on a new topic.
